I grew up in the small rural town of New Prague, MN. My parents helped to lay a christian foundation in which I would build my entire life upon. Growing up,  I came to know Christ through my parents discipline and nuturing spirits. After high school I attended Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN. My faith was deepened in Christ as I launched into young adulthood. I learned how he worked in my own unique life as I developed spiritually. I began the soul search in discovering who I am through the path that God paved for me.

 

I was led to a youth group that wasn’t really associated with any church group. Several close friends attended this group on a weekly basis and I began my search to know Christ through this youth group. But I also was young and learned some hard lessons in life about friendships, drinking, and partying. I eventually broke away from this group of friends; not by my own will but through the will of God. This break placed a curve in my path and I was heading in a new direction.

 

I met a friend, Kevin (God rest his soul), at work and through conversations we discovered we both shared a passion to know Christ. Kevin invited me to a small group bible study which he was attending through the Vineyard church. He also introduced me to The Upper Room (my now home church), a subdivision of Christ Presbyterian Church in Edina, MN.

 

After attending The Upper Room services for more than 4 years I decided to commit myself to this church and began taking the classes to become a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Edina MN. Here is where I begin to commit myself to a relationship with God.

Upper Room is a community of people who have come together to follow the person of Jesus.  We are fueled by our common purpose of loving God and others the way Jesus did.  The values that keep us on the path are a commitment to keep Jesus at the center of all things, to live communally with one heart and one mind, to stay connected to each other and God through holistic experiences, to always seek change and transformation, and to let the mission of love drive us in order that the Kingdom of God could be more fully experienced here and around the world.
